Former Indian spinner Harbhajan Singh has highlighted MS Dhoni‘s brief but impactful four-ball cameo as the pivotal moment in the recent IPL ‘El Clasico’ between Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings at the Wankhede Stadium. Dhoni, who famously led India to a World Cup victory at the same venue in 2011, smashed a hat-trick of sixes off Hardik Pandya‘s bowling, helping CSK post a competitive total of 206/4.
Harbhajan praised Dhoni for his composure and effectiveness in the crucial overs, stating, “Dhoni played just four balls and struck three sixes. He scored 20 runs and that was the difference. If you remove those four balls, then MI has already put that many runs on the board. MS Dhoni has such a personality that when he stepped on the crease, people were cheering for him and it was so loud.”
The veteran spinner also expressed his belief that Dhoni should consider batting higher up the order, given his skill and impact. “The way he performed didn’t feel like he was away from the game. The confidence in him is clearly visible. He bats so well that everyone is wondering why he is not batting up in the order,” Harbhajan remarked.
Reflecting on the match, Mumbai Indians, led by Rohit Sharma’s unbeaten century, fell short of the target despite a valiant effort. CSK’s total, powered by Shivam Dube‘s unbeaten 66 and skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad‘s 69, proved too challenging for MI to chase down.
