South Africa announces a strong star studded squad for T20 World Cup 2024

South Africa has named its 15-man squad for the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024, set to take place in the USA and the West Indies. The squad includes some notable inclusions, with Anrich Nortje and Quinton de Kock making the cut. Nortje, who has been recovering from a back injury since September 2023, returns to the squad, while de Kock, who retired from ODIs after the 2023 Cricket World Cup, continues his T20I career.

Two uncapped players, Ryan Rickelton and Ottniel Baartman, have also been included in the squad. Rickelton impressed in the recent SA20 tournament, finishing as the leading run-scorer with 530 runs at an average of 58.88. Baartman, on the other hand, was a standout performer with 18 wickets in eight matches for Sunrisers Eastern Cape.

The batting lineup looks strong with the likes of Markram, de Kock, Reeza Hendricks, Heinrich Klaasen, David Miller, and the promising Tristan Stubbs. In the bowling department, Kagiso Rabada and Nortje will lead the pace attack, supported by Marco Jansen and Gerald Coetzee. Bjorn Fortuin, Keshav Maharaj, and Tabraiz Shamsi will provide spin options.

South Africa will kick off their T20 World Cup campaign against Sri Lanka in New York on June 3.
