They see themselves as part of the team’s story, and these unexpected changes make them feel blindsided. The way Hardik came in as captain – the lack of clarity on Rohit’s role – is a prime example.”

Hardik’s Dhoni Reference Raises Eyebrows

Hardik’s post-match comments praising MS Dhoni’s influence on CSK’s bowlers seemed to hint at a lack of similar guidance in the MI camp. “There’s a man behind the stumps who tells them what’s working,” Hardik said.

Gilchrist interpreted Hardik’s words as a potential sign of isolation. “That Dhoni comment is intriguing,” he said. “It suggests Hardik might feel like a lone wolf.
