IPL 2019 Match 3 MI vs DC Highlights, Match Summary, Full Scorecard

Delhi Capitals visited the Wankhede Stadium to face Mumbai Indians in the 3rd game of IPL 2019. A lot was expected from the visitors as they had introduced several changes before the league. With their power-packed performance against MI, they proved that the team is up for the challenge this year.

IPL 2019 Match 3 MI vs DC Highlights

For the third straight time in the league, a team opted to bowl after winning the toss. This time, it was Rohit Sharma who thought batting second would be advantageous. Shikhar Dhawan walked out to bat for DC for the first time alongside Prithvi Shaw. The right-hander didn’t last long as Mitchell McClenaghan removed him for 7.

The skipper Shreyas Iyer looked good in his short stay in the middle. But McClenaghan sent him back too for 16. Dhawan was subdued in his approach thus far and had Colin Ingram for a company. The two left-handers consolidated the innings and built the platform for a solid total. They added 83 runs for the 3rd wicket before Ingram fell for 47 courtesy, Ben Cutting.

Dhawan too departed after scoring 43 as Hardik Pandya claimed his wicket in the 16th over. The last 5 overs belonged to Rishabh Pant who went absolutely berserk. The left-hander kept slamming balls out of the park and notched up a fifty from just 18 balls. He wasn’t perturbed by the dismissals of Keemo Paul and Axar Patel at the other end. His knock of 78 from 27 balls powered DC to a massive 213/6.

MI needed a flourish in the beginning in the pursuit of a big target. Rohit Sharma and Quinton de Kock began on a positive note. But Ishant Sharma caught the big fish when he claimed the wicket of Rohit for 14. Suryakumar Yadav’s wicket in the 6th over put the hosts deeper into trouble. To make matters worse, de Kock, who was looking good, also fell for 27.

The hosts were struggling at 46/3 after 6 overs. Yuvraj Singh looked in fine touch in his first game for Mumbai. Kieron Pollard accompanied him for a 50-run partnership. But the Caribbean was dismissed by Keemo Paul for 21. Hardik Pandya couldn’t open his account as Axar Patel got him out caught and bowled.

Krunal Pandya came out in a destructive mood and slammed 32 from 15 balls. The required run rate was far too much as he was forced to go big on every ball. In doing so, he got out to Trent Boult. Yuvraj battled alone and scored 53 from 35 balls. But there was a mountain to climb and he failed to do so as DC won by 37 runs.
