Why Jos Buttler is not playing Today’s IPL 2024 Match 27 Against Punjab Kings?

Rajasthan Royals’ dominant start to IPL 2024 has hit a snag with the news that star opener Jos Buttler will miss their upcoming match against the Punjab Kings due to a niggle. This unexpected development comes as a blow to the Royals, who are currently perched atop the points table. Find out why Jos Buttler is missing from today’s IPL 2024 clash against PBKS.

Royals Seek to Maintain Momentum Despite Key Absence

The Royals have been in impressive form this season, winning four out of their five matches. Buttler, in particular, has been a key contributor, having smashed a spectacular century in their previous encounter against Royal Challengers Bangalore.  However, captain Sanju Samson confirmed during the toss that Buttler wouldn’t be available for the Punjab Kings clash due to a niggle.

Explaining the team’s approach, Samson said,  “We’ll bowl first, it looks like a decent wicket to bowl first. We’ve made a target to not think about the goal, focus on the process, work on building the team and we’re doing well.”  He acknowledged the challenges presented by player absences, stating,  “A lot of challenges outside as well, we’ve many players missing from tonight’s game.”

Buttler’s Absence Creates Opening Conundrum

With Buttler sidelined, a question mark hangs over the Royals’ opening combination.  The team lacks depth at the top of the order, making the selection a crucial decision.  Samson himself could potentially move up the order to partner the in-form Yashasvi Jaiswal.  Another option is Dhruv Jurel, who hasn’t had many opportunities this season but could be given a chance to prove himself.  The final decision on the opening partnership will be one to watch closely.

Despite the setback of Buttler’s absence, the Royals remain the favourites going into the match.  They possess a strong overall squad and are in good form.  However, the Punjab Kings shouldn’t be underestimated.  While they are currently placed eighth in the standings with just two wins in five matches, they have the potential to cause an upset, especially considering the Royals’ missing players.
