The Tale Of 2 Installments: Team India To Leave For USA In Batches

Team India for World Cup has been announced and what a surprising turn of events it has been. With multiple speculations about which player will make the squad and which one will miss out, the anxiety for knowing the playing squad is now over.

Virat Kohli, Yuzvendra Chahal, Shivam Dube, Arshdeep Singh were some of the names included in India’s 15-member T20 World Cup 2024 squad announced by the BCCI on Tuesday.

The team is set to leave the country in 2 phases

The T20 World Cup squad for India is still busy playing in TATA IPL 2024. According to cricbuzz, some of these players are going to board on their flights for the USA on 21 May 2024, while the rest will leave together as a second phase of boarding on 27 May 2024.

Fans are speculating this is because some of the players might be busy with the IPL, with their teams in the playoffs.

Since RCB is at number 10 on the points table, this ensures that Virat Kohli is more than likely to leave in the first phase. Siraj, Hardik, Rohit, Bumrah and Arshdeep are some of the other players who will supposedly join him.

Indian all-rounder Hardik Pandya was kept as the vice-captain despite his recent lack of form, as he continues to lead the Mumbai Indians in the current IPL season.  This might just be Pandya’s best chance to shut the haters up with a resurrection of his previous form.

The Rohit Sharma led selection committee with Ajit agarkar and Jay Shah has selected a spin-heavy bowling lineup consisting of Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal while the pace battery will be led by Jasprit Bumrah with the support of Arshdeep Singh, Mohammed Siraj and vice-captain Hardik Pandya.

The selection of the batters was pretty self explanatory, with Yashasvi Jaiswal, Virat Kohli and Suryakumar Yadav all expected to shore the top order alongside captain Rohit.

Surprisingly though, Shubman Gill and Rinku Singh only find a place amongst the reserves along with pacers Khaleel Ahmed and Avesh Khan.
