In recognition of their remarkable season, Chennai Super Kings were crowned IPL 2023 champions, while the Gujarat Titans finished as the runners-up. 

Shubman Gill dominates the awards

Shubman Gill of the Gujarat Titans stole the limelight with his exceptional batting performances throughout the tournament, earning him the coveted Orange Cap. Gill amassed a staggering total of 890 runs, showcasing his remarkable skills and consistency with the bat. His ability to score runs consistently was instrumental in the Gujarat Titans’ success, making him a deserving recipient of the prestigious award.

The Purple Cap

On the bowling front, Mohammed Shami of the Gujarat Titans claimed the Purple Cap for his outstanding performance with the ball. Shami’s impressive tally of 28 wickets demonstrated his skill and effectiveness as a wicket-taker. Faf du Plessis of the Royal Challengers Bangalore showcased his power-hitting prowess by smashing an impressive 36 sixes, securing him the award for the most sixes in the tournament. His ability to clear the boundary at will provided valuable momentum to his team’s innings on numerous occasions.

In the nail-biting final, Devon Conway of the Chennai Super Kings played a pivotal role in his team’s victory and was named the Player of the Final – Man of the Match. Conway’s sublime inning of 47 off 25 balls under pressure helped his team clinch the title, earning him well-deserved recognition for his outstanding performance on the grandest stage.

Glenn Maxwell of the Royal Challengers Bangalore was awarded the Electric Striker of the Season for his ability to consistently strike the ball cleanly and score runs at a brisk pace. Maxwell’s aggressive batting style and innovative shot selection entertained fans throughout the tournament.

Miscellaneous awards 

Yashasvi Jaiswal of the Rajasthan Royals was recognized as the Emerging Player of the tournament. Jaiswal’s youthful exuberance and impressive performances showcased his immense potential, making him an exciting prospect for the future.  

Rashid Khan of the Gujarat Titans was honored with the Best Catch of the Season award, displaying his exceptional athleticism and safe hands in the field. Khan’s remarkable catch of Kyle Mayers during Gujarat Titans’ game against the Lucknow Super Giants epitomized the tournament’s thrilling and acrobatic fielding displays.

Delhi Capitals, led by captain David Warner, were recognized with the Fair Play Award. The team’s exemplary conduct, sportsmanship, and adherence to the spirit of the game throughout the tournament saw them garner 141 points in 14 games and earned them this prestigious accolade.
