Following the electrifying encounter, Gaikwad showered praise on Dhoni for his exceptional batting prowess, particularly in the final over where he smashed a hat-trick of sixes to propel CSK to a formidable total of 206/4 in 20 overs. Gaikwad humorously referred to Dhoni as a “young wicketkeeper,” marvelling at his ability to deliver such a stunning performance at the age of 42.

“The young wicketkeeper scoring those three sixes helped us a lot, that proved to be the difference,” remarked Gaikwad in admiration of Dhoni’s contribution. “We needed those 10-15 extra runs for this kind of venue.”

Gaikwad Commends Team Effort

Reflecting on the team’s overall performance, Gaikwad emphasized the collective effort that propelled CSK to victory. He acknowledged the stellar bowling display by Matheesha Pathirana, affectionately dubbed as ‘Baby Malinga,’ who claimed a crucial four-wicket haul to stifle MI’s formidable batting lineup.

“Our Malinga (Matheesha Pathirana) bowled really well today, he nailed those yorkers,” Gaikwad praised. “Not to forget, Tushar (Deshpande) and Shardul (Thakur) also did well.”

With this emphatic win, CSK climbs to the third position in the IPL standings, boasting four wins and two losses, accumulating eight points in total. Meanwhile, MI finds itself in the eighth spot, with two wins and four losses, garnering four points.
