Chris Gayle to Retire After Test Series Against India

West Indies smasher Chris Gayle once again has considered his international retirement. Now Gayle will retire from international cricket after the home Test series against India scheduled just after World Cup 2019 in August-September.

Chris Gayle retirement

In February, Gayle informed that this World Cup would be his last international venture. But now he seems to have changed his mind and is willing to play for a few more days. He has announced that it is still not the end for him and he believes that there are more games left in him. I may play a Test match against India and then I will definitely play the ODIs against India. I won’t play the T20s. That’s my plan after the World Cup,” Gayle said.

Gayle is currently busy with the West Indies team in England for World Cup 2019. The team manager, Philip Spooner has confirmed the news and said, Yes, Chris will play his last series against India.”

A legend to Retire

India and West Indies will play T20Is from August 3, followed by ODIs from August 8 and two match test series from August 22. Gayle last time was featured in a test for the Windies in September 2014. This India- West Indies test series will be a part of the inaugural World Test Championship.

Chris Gayle is one of the big hitters of the game who has 7214 runs and 15 hundred in 103 test matches he played so far. In limited over cricket Gayle is a threat to any top class bowler. The ‘Universe Boss’ has 10345 runs in 294 ODI appearances and he has added 1627 runs in 58 T20Is. Indian Premier League has possibly seen one of the best version of him where he became the fastest to score 4000 runs and only batter to hit 300 sixes. It will be interesting to see if West Indies cricket board considers Gayle for the test series or not.
