Punjab Kings Suffer Blow as Curran Drops Phil Salt’s Crucial Catch in Arshdeep’s Over

In the 42nd match of the IPL 2024, Kolkata Knight Riders is facing Punjab Kings at the Eden Gardens. The match is getting exciting as the game moves forward. But in the first innings, Punjab Kings fielders showed their poor bowling as they dropped two consecutive catches of Phil Salt. In the sixth over, Punjab Kings skipper Sam Curran dropped Salt’s catch and that caught attention. 

Curran Drops Salt’s Catch:

The 42nd match of the tournament is witnessing a classic match between Kolkata Knight Riders and Punjab Kings. After winning the toss, PBKS opted to bowl first. Since the beginning, the Knights have been smashing big shots. Along with some big shots, Punjab’s poor fielding effort caught the attention. 

On the 6th over, are Arshdeep Singh came to bowl and Phil Salt was on strike. As Arshdeep bowled a good delivery,  Salt hits it for a single. A missed opportunity for Punjab Kings as Curran drops the catch. The ball was hit hard and fast to mid-off but at a catchable height. Despite being at this level, Curran failed to hold on, letting the ball slip from his wrists. This mishap won’t favor Punjab Kings at all. With that dismissal, Phil Salt got a big opportunity.

The Moment Repeated by Rabada:

Since the beginning of the match, Punjab Kings has been showcasing poor fielding. After Sam Curran missed Phil Salt’s catch, the KKR batter gets a life. That was a big moment for the team. In the 7th over, Rahul Chahar was about to dismiss Salt but Rabada missed that opportunity too. In the 5th delivery of the sixth over, Chahar bowled a slower and wider delivery, making it difficult for Salt to control the shot. The ball went towards backward point, where Rabada swiftly moved, dived, and got both hands on it, but unfortunately, couldn’t hold on, letting the ball slip away. Phil Salt got another chance. 

Those catch drops gave lives to Phil Salt. The destructive opener Phil Salt used this opportunity in the best possible way. He completed his another half-century of the season and still playing on 60 runs in 31 balls. He already smashed 6 boundaries and 4 over-boundaries. Sunil Narine walked away after scoring 71 runs in 32 balls. In the 11th over, Kolkata Knight Riders is 144/1.
