BCCI announces squad for T20 World Cup 2024

The much-awaited day has finally arrived for the Indian cricket fraternity. There have been much debate and discussion on the probable 15 that India might pick for the ICC T20 World Cup in June since the start of this year, which grew more intense by the day, especially amid the ongoing 2024 season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) which has been offering possibilities aplenty. The Ajit Agarkar-led selection committee has announced India’s Squad for the T20 World Cup 2024.

Rohit Sharma will be leading the side with Hardik Pandya being the vice captain. With many speculations over Pandya being dropped from the side, the management has backed the star all-rounder to be Rohit Sharma’s deputy. India’s leading run scorer in the T20 World Cups, Virat Kohli also has been named in the squad amidst many pundits deciding to drop the stalwart. Jaiswal has been backed by the management despite of up and down run in the IPL.

Yuzvendra Chahal finally makes a comeback to the side and will make his first appearance in a T20 World Cup. The leg spinner has been in tremendous form in the IPL and deservingly recieves a callup for the national duty. Along with him, his fellow Kuldeep Yadav is named in the squad. The Kulcha is finally together playing for the country after a long gap.

In the fast bowling department, Jasprit Bumrah will be the spearhead of the attack. Mohammad Siraj and Arshdeep Singh are the other 2 pacers along with Bumrah.

Shivam Dube had been knocking the selectors door for quite a while. Due to his exploits in the last 2 editions of the IPL, he has been named in the Indian squad for the World Cup 2024. Along with Dube, the other notable Inclusion is Sanju Samson. His recent form in the IPL has prompted the selectors to have a look at him.

Rishabh Pant has made a comeback of ages. Coming back from a life threatening accident, the Wicketkeeper has made a stunning entry to the Indian side. It will be interesting fo see who plays between Pant and Samson.

For the T20I World Cup 2024, the Indian cricket team has named Rinku Singh, Shubman Gill, Khaleel Ahmed, and Avesh Khan as the travelling reserves. These players will be on standby, ready to step in if any of the main squad members are unable to participate due to injury or other reasons.
