Abhishek Sharma Talks About His Favorites Ahead of IPL 2024 Clash

Sunrisers Hyderabad‘s (SRH) all-rounder Abhishek Sharma recently shared insights into his cricketing idol, favorite teammate, and music playlist in a rapid-fire Q&A session before SRH’s match against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB).

Expressing his excitement for the tournament, Abhishek likened the IPL to a festival for India. He said, “This year, my family is coming for every match; it is special to me and a proud moment for me.”

Recalling his IPL debut for Delhi Capitals against RCB in 2018, where he scored a quick 46 off 19 balls, Abhishek reflected on his journey. He correctly recalled, “My IPL debut was for the Delhi Capitals against RCB in 2018, in which I scored a 19-ball 46 runs.”

Abhishek revealed that he would have been a businessman if not a cricketer. He said, “I would have been a businessman.”

He listed M Chinnaswamy Stadium, PCA Mohali Stadium, Arun Jaitley Stadium, and the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium as his favorite cricket venues. He added, “Also, the Hyderabad Stadium (Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium) is my new favorite.”

On his music playlist, Abhishek mentioned having a lot of songs by the late Punjabi singer and rapper Sidhu Moosewala, which motivate him. He said, “I have a lot of songs from the late Punjabi singer and rapper Sidhu Moosewala in my playlist and they motivate me a lot.”

Regarding his favorite teammate, Abhishek praised Australian opener Travis Head, whom he spends a lot of time with and admires across all formats. He said, “I have been spending a lot of time with Travis Head, I have been following him in all formats. My Punjab teammates know how I admire him.”

Abhishek shared that his cricketing idol is Yuvraj Singh, inspired by his performances in the T20 World Cup 2007 and the World Cup 2011, where he won the Player of the Series award. He said, “I was inspired to play cricket since the T20 World Cup 2007, when he smashed those six sixes and he won the World Cup 2011 for India later, securing the Player of the Series title. This is how my cricketing journey started.”

For this season, Abhishek’s cricketing mantra involved practicing with his father, his first coach, focusing on areas he needed to improve. He said, “I practiced at things that I lacked. Yuvraj pajji and Brian Lara also helped me.”

In the IPL 2024 season, Abhishek has scored 177 runs in five matches at an average of 35.40 and a strike rate of 208.23, including one half-century.
