World Cup 2019: Confident Virat Kohli Happy With Team

Pakistan bowling legend Wasim Akram had a chat with Virat Kohli post the India-Pakistan clash. He interviewed Virat as part of the commentary panel and talked about this ongoing mega event.

Virat Kohli Happy With Team

India has been undefeated throughout apart from a wash-out against New Zealand. While asked about the same by Akram, the Indian captain explained how happy he is with the team performance. Virat Said that India gained the momentum and the focus would be to carry on the same. He explained about Indian wins and said, “…the first one was very challenging, but the other two wins have been very convincing and very professional victories against two of the biggest sides in world cricket.”He went on to say that whatever India achieved till now it was due to the team effort.

Akram commented about Indian team on how they look happy and connected. Captain Kohli mentioned that India’s main aim was to play freely and enjoy this long tournament. The players try to find moments to have some fun which keeps the team going.

On injury and strategy

He informed Akram that there is nothing to worry about Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s injury. According to Kohli, the bowler could have delivered one more over but didn’t take risk keeping the importance of the World Cup in mind. Kohli said, “He (Bhuvneshwar) feels he should be fine in the next couple of weeks, so we’ll give it two games and see where he is.”

Talking about his strategy of playing the wrist spinners Kohli opined that wrist spinners need confidence in the initial overs and then with runs on board can utilize the situation well. He didn’t forget to mention about Kuldeep Yadav who was out of form during IPL 2019. “Look at Kuldeep, he was a little down when he came here, but now his confidence is back. Chahal is always confident. Together, they are very important in the middle overs”

Captain Kohli told that India will give due respect to all the opponents as no game is easy in the World Cup. So even if it is an easy opponent like Afghanistan, the Indian team will give 100%.
