The Punjab Kings team for the Indian Premier League  2024 revealed their new jersey at Elante Mall in Chandigarh on Saturday, March 16. The event saw the presence of PBKS captain Shikhar Dhawan, a few other players, and co-owner Preity Zinta. Zinta expressed her thoughts on the jersey design for the upcoming season during the event.

Preity Zinta on Punjab’s New Jersey:

In another exciting season of IPL 2024, Punjab Kings unveiled their new jersey. The jersey unveiling took place at the Elante Mall in Chandigarh on Saturday, attended by prominent figures from various fields. Jasmeet Singh Bhatia’s comedic act entertained the audience, followed by the unveiling of the new jersey design by Punjab Kings co-owner Preity G. Zinta and team captain Shikhar Dhawan. The entire team, including the coaching staff, was also present at the event.

Preity Zinda, the owner of Punjab Kings, disclosed that the BCCI has prohibited certain jersey colors for IPL teams due to visibility concerns with the cricket ball. Zinda mentioned that combinations including silver, grey, and white have been banned. At the PBKS jersey unveiling event, Zinda explained that they originally planned to use red, grey, and silver colors but had to alter their design to comply with the BCCI’s regulations. This move reflects the league’s commitment to ensuring optimal visibility and safety for players during matches.

She said, “Earlier, we had a combination of red, grey and silver but then the BCCI banned silver, grey, and white due to sighting issues with the ball. Hence, we went ahead with red and this year we have the best combination with red.”

Punjab’s Upcoming Matches:

In the forthcoming season, Punjab will kick off their campaign against Delhi Capitals on Saturday, March 23 at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Mullanpur, Chandigarh. Following this, they are slated to compete against Royal Challengers Bangalore, Lucknow Super Giants, and Gujarat Titans in the initial phase of the tournament. The BCCI has disclosed the schedule for the first 21 matches of the IPL, with the remaining fixtures to be revealed after the General Elections schedule is released. This approach ensures that the IPL calendar aligns seamlessly with other significant events taking place in the country.
