Srikkanth Slams RCB Bowling After Record-Breaking SRH Innings: “Play 11 Batsmen!”

Royal Challengers Bangalore’s (RCB) bowling woes continued in the IPL 2024 as they were thrashed by a rampant Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on Monday. SRH posted a mammoth 287 runs, the highest total in IPL history, leaving Srikkanth fuming at RCB’s bowling strategy.

SRH showcased exceptional batting prowess at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium. Opener Travis Head led the charge with a blistering 41-ball 102, setting the tone for a record-breaking total. The visitors capitalized on a weak RCB bowling attack, with several players conceding over 50 runs.

Srikkanth Unloads on RCB Bowling

Cricket legend Krishnamachari Srikkanth didn’t hold back on his YouTube channel, expressing his disappointment with RCB’s bowling performance. He questioned the team’s strategy, suggesting a radical approach.

“Reece Topley is getting smashed. Lockie Ferguson was getting smashed,” Srikkanth lamented. “Better, they play 11 batters. Ask Faf du Plessis to bowl 2 overs. Give Cameron Green 4 overs. I think Virat Kohli wouldn’t have conceded this many had he bowled 4 overs. Virat Kohli is a decent bowler.”

Srikkanth’s comments, while laced with sarcasm, highlighted RCB’s bowling deficiencies. He playfully suggested Kohli, known primarily for his batting prowess, take up bowling duties in such desperate situations.

SRH’s Batting Powerhouse

While Srikkanth criticised RCB’s bowling, it’s important to acknowledge the exceptional batting performance by SRH.  Following Head’s century, Heinrich Klaasen contributed a quickfire 67, and Aiden Markram chipped in with a valuable 32 off just 17 balls.  The late blitz by Abdul Samad (37 off 10 balls) further pushed the score beyond reach for RCB.

.Despite a promising start by RCB’s openers, Kohli (43) and Faf du Plessis (40), the middle order faltered once again. Dinesh Karthik’s valiant knock of 83 off 35 balls offered a glimmer of hope, but RCB ultimately fell short by 25 runs.

RCB Falls Short Despite Kohli-du Plessis Partnership

This crushing defeat exposes RCB’s vulnerabilities. The team needs to address their bowling issues and find a way to build a more consistent batting lineup beyond the top order. With their playoff hopes hanging in the balance, RCB will need a significant turnaround in the upcoming matches.
