South Africa international cricketer Keshav Maharaj expressed his desire to visit the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, despite missing the ‘Pran Pratishtha’ ceremony due to cricket commitments. Maharaj, currently leading Durban Super Giants in the ongoing SA20, aims to fulfil his pilgrimage aspirations in the near future, hoping for support from his IPL franchise, Lucknow Super Giants.

Missed Ceremony Due to SA20 Commitments

Keshav Maharaj, who missed the ‘Pran Pratishtha’ ceremony of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, attributed his absence to the ongoing second edition of the SA20 cricket tournament. Despite being unable to attend the event, Maharaj extended his prayers for peace and harmony in India, expressing his eagerness to visit the temple soon.

“Unfortunately, the schedule didn’t allow me to visit during the inauguration of the temple. But in the future, I would definitely love to go and see the temple in Ayodhya,” Maharaj shared with Sports Tak.

Hopes for Future Visit Arranged by Lucknow Super Giants

Expressing his wish for a pilgrimage to India with his family, Maharaj hopes that Lucknow Super Giants, the sister franchise of his SA20 team, will arrange a trip to the Ram Temple in Ayodhya. Maharaj emphasized his family’s long-standing desire to visit India for a pilgrimage, highlighting the significance of the potential trip to Ayodhya.

“Fingers crossed. Maybe in the future, we can arrange for that. Maybe the Lucknow franchise can help. My family has always wanted to go on a pilgrimage to India. So maybe it will be a nice family trip to go across to Ayodhya,” he added.

Staunch Devotion to Lord Hanuman and Lord Ram

Maharaj revealed his profound devotion to Lord Hanuman and Lord Ram, sharing his spiritual connection and rituals during cricket matches. The cricketer requested the DJ to play ‘Ram Siya Ram’ during South Africa’s recent series against India, attributing his success to divine guidance and blessings.

“My faith in god is very staunch… I am a staunch devotee of Lord Hanuman and Lord Ram. So it’s the least I can do to say thank you and get me in my zone and make me focused through hearing ‘Ram Siya Ram’ play in the background,” Maharaj affirmed.

Keshav Maharaj’s aspirations to visit the Ram Temple in Ayodhya reflect his deep spiritual beliefs and reverence for Indian culture. Despite missing the ‘Pran Pratishtha’ ceremony, Maharaj remains hopeful for a future pilgrimage to the sacred site, underscoring the significance of his faith in his personal and professional life.
