Afghanistan Announces Their Squad Ahead of the T20 World Cup, Studded With Some Fresh Talents

The final countdown of the T20 World Cup has already begun. And the most exciting time before the mega T20 tournament has been started. The teams are revealing their T20 World Cup squad. After New Zealand, England, and India, the Afghanistan Cricket Board also revealed their squad for the T20 World Cup. Some interesting new players have made their place in the World Cup Squad. 

Perfect Blend of Young Talent and Experience:

In the past few years, Afghanistan cricket has seen a remarkable rise in the cricket world. From dealing with obstacles to displaying remarkable characters in the 2023 World Cup, the team came along. In the ODI World Cup last year, they showcased their character, and the cricket world was stunned by their excellence. Now, it is their turn to showcase their excellence in the T20 World Cup stage. 

Afghanistan unveiled their 15-member squad for the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup set to kick off in June across the West Indies and the USA. Rashid Khan was appointed as the team’s skipper, entrusted to lead the spin attack alongside Mujeeb Ur Rahman, Noor Ahmad, Nangyal Kharoti, and the seasoned Mohammad Nabi.

In the fast-bowling department, Naveen-ul-Haq, Fareed Ahmad, and Fazalhaq Farooq retained their spots, providing the much-needed pace dimension to Afghanistan’s lineup. Among the promising talents, Nangyal Kharoti, who showcased his potential with a commendable performance against Ireland, earned his place in the squad. Additionally, wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Ishaq, a product of Afghanistan’s U19 setup, secured his spot after his stints in the 2020 and 2022 ICC U19 Men’s Cricket World Cups.

The World Cup Squad:

Afghanistan Squad: Rahmanullah Gurbaz (wk), Ibrahim Zadran, Azmatullah Omarzai, Najibullah Zadran, Mohammad Ishaq, Mohammad Nabi, Gulbadin Naib, Karim Janat, Rashid Khan (c), Nangyal Kharoti, Mujeeb Ur Rahman, Noor Ahmad, Naveen-ul-Haq, Fazalhaq Farooqi, Fareed Ahmad Malik. 

Sediq Atal, Hazratullah Zazai, and Saleem Safi will travel with the team as the reserve players. The T20 World Cup is set to raise its curtain on June 2. The West Indies and the USA are organizing the global tournament jointly. Afghanistan will start their T20 World Cup journey on June 4 against Uganda.
