Cricket enthusiasts have experienced thrilling group-stage games of the IPL 2024. Now the tournament has moved forward to the play-off stage. In the first qualifier, Kolkata Knight Riders and Sunrisers Hyderabad are facing each other to finalize their entry into the IPL 2024 final. But in this match, a special thing caught the attention. A tree symbol was shown for the dot ball. People were curious about it.

The reason has been revealed now. As part of the Board of Control for Cricket in India’s green initiative, they have collaborated with the Tata Group to plant trees. For every dot ball bowled during the Playoff games and the Final, the BCCI pledges to plant 500 trees. This program aims to promote environmental sustainability by increasing the green cover through the strategic planting of trees.

The initiative began in the IPL 2023 playoffs during the first Qualifier between Gujarat Titans and Chennai Super Kings. Last year, BCCI and Tata planted 1,47,000 trees, corresponding to 294 dot balls. In the Qualifier 1 match alone, 84 dot balls resulted in 42,000 saplings being planted.
