Dada shares his views on Dhoni’s retirement

MS Dhoni’s international retirement is in the final phase. But nobody knows when he will make his decision. Recently, former Indian captain, Sourav Ganguly was asked about his thoughts on the same and he shared his two cents.

Dhoni was expected to hang his boots after India’s sudden exit from ICC World Cup 2019. He did not but at the same time didn’t take part in the ongoing West Indies He is currently on a two-month sabbatical from cricket. He holds an honorary Lieutenant rank in the Territorial Army and as a part of his Army duty was trained with his battalion in Kashmir from July 31st to August 15th. During his stint, Dhoni learnt about weaponry and warfare from the troops. Dhoni just came back after spending 15 days with Indian Army in Jammu & Kashmir and was recently spotted in Jaipur.

While Dhoni continues to enjoy his break away from cricket, the speculations never stop. The experts always face the question regarding Dhoni’s retirement. Sourav Ganguly was no exception. Ganguly said it would totally depend on the team management and how selectors would handle it. “Obviously, Dhoni is not young anymore, so this decision comes in everybody’s life at some stage or the other. So, we will have to wait and see for another three or four months to understand where it goes.”

He also shared his views on Rishabh Pant. But according to Ganguly even Pant’s longevity and chances in the team depends on the selectors thought process. Although the young keeper batter has slotted in well in the team the future will depend on a lot of other aspects. “Obviously, Rishabh (Pant) is in. He plays well. (But in the end), it all depends on the mindset of the selectors and what they think. It’s about whether they want to look at the future. Only time will tell.”
