Ahead of the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) season, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) batsman Rinku Singh has begun his preparations at the team’s academy in Bengaluru. The 26-year-old left-hander, who emerged as KKR’s highest scorer with over 400 runs in the 2023 season, is considered a key player for the team.
A Memorable 2023 Season and Team Return
Singh’s impressive IPL 2023 performance earned him a call-up to the Indian T20 squad. He made his debut on the tour of Ireland and recently participated in the 3-match series against Afghanistan, which India emerged victorious in.
Rinku’s training session at the KKR academy wasn’t just about sweat and practice; it also involved a heartwarming interaction with young fans. A video shared by KKR on their official Instagram handle shows Singh smashing big sixes in the nets, captivating the attention of the young audience present. Later, fans gathered around him for pictures and autographs.
Interestingly, some young supporters requested autographs on their foreheads and necks, highlighting their admiration and enthusiasm. The video was captioned “Sabka favourite, Rinku Singh!” (Everyone’s favourite, Rinku Singh!).
KKR Welcomes Back Shreyas Iyer
While Rinku gears up for the new season, KKR will also welcome back their skipper, Shreyas Iyer, who missed the entire 2023 season due to a back injury. In his absence, Nitish Rana led the team, which finished seventh in the points table.
The upcoming IPL season also sees the return of Australian fast bowler Mitchell Starc, who became the tournament’s most expensive player ever at the auction. Starc, who will be playing for the Royal Challengers Bangalore, expressed his excitement to be back in the IPL and acknowledged the pressure that comes with the hefty price tag.
With several star players and exciting storylines, the IPL 2024 promises to be a thrilling edition for fans and players alike.
