Pat Cummins Thinks its “Unreal” to win the SRH vs LSG match in under 10 overs

Sun Risers Hyderabad and Lucknow Super Giants played the 57th match of the IPL 2024 at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad, India. The two sides faced off in a very interesting but brief contest.

The match began with Lucknow Super Giants winning the toss and skipper KL Rahul deciding to bat first. This prompted LSG to set a target for the SRH. LSG managed to score 165 runs in 20 overs while losing four wickets.

Sunrisers Hyderabad triumphed by ten wickets after their opening batters, Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma, produced 168 runs from 9.5 overs. The partnership was a wonderful example of legendary cricket. This victory propelled SRH to third place in the points table.

This is what Pat Cummins said after today’s match

Today’s match was a very special one for ‘silencer’ Pat Cummins. The captain didn’t only have his birthday, but also came out to play even though he could’ve celebrated.

Addressing the audience, birthday boy and winning captain Pat Cummins said that it was Travis and Abhishek who might have “changed” the pitch. He accepted that being a bowler, he lets the batsmen do their thing, and they seem to be quite good at it too.

“(On did he change the pitch) Maybe Travis and Abhishek did. We just let them go, they are two guys who are very positive and I’m a bowler, it is tough for me to give them any inputs. (On Travis Head) He’s been like this for 2 years, he hits the tough areas, hits the middle a lot, might not be super conventional. Said Cummins

“(On Abhishek Sharma) Just an incredible player of spin and pace. With just 2 fielders out, it is really difficult for the bowlers against them. (On where the game is headed) I think the scores have gone up, and when the wickets are good, it is tough to come up with answers against batters when they get going. The boys have had a fantastic season, but to win this with less than 10 overs played is unreal” the Aussie added.

Abhishek-Travis make history, win the match in 9.4 overs

As the match concluded, it was hard for the viewers to grasp what had transpired there. While LSG took up 20 overs to score 165 runs, and losing 4 wickets while doing so, SRH opening batsmen Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma managed to achieve the feat in merely 9.4 overs while not even losing a wicket.

Travis Head went on to become the Player Of The Match at 89* off of 30 balls, while Sharma had scored 75* off of 28 balls.

“(On his spin hitting) It is something I have been working on, it will be a big part in the Caribbean as well. It is important to go 360 in the modern game. (On fearless cricket) The last 12 months, that’s how they wanted me to play in the Aussie team, and that’s what I’ve been told to do here as well. Nothing much that I have to change.” Said Head after the match.

“I would never think of coming to such a tournament and playing at such a strike rate, but thanks to the team management. The message was clear from them and I backed myself. All the credit goes to him (Head).” Adds Abhishek Sharma after the match.
