MS Dhoni to don commentator’s hat at Eden

Good news for Dhoni fans. Mahendra Singh Dhoni could be seen as a guest commentator for India’s maiden day-night Test at Eden Gardens against Bangladesh.

Surprise for Dhoni fans

Dhoni, since India’s World Cup exit in the semifinal, has been in sabbatical leave and yet to make himself available for selection. His retirement news often does the rounds but the man in question hasn’t confirmed anything yet. While his fans remain conscious for the player, chances of the star-making debut in commentary during the historical match.

According to the IANS information, the plan proposed by Sourav Ganguly suggests to call up all former Indian captains of the Indian team for the first two days of the Test match. The plan reads, “Invite India Test captains for Day 1 & 2 of the Test. All captains at the ground along with (Virat) Kohli and the rest of the team as well as the dignitaries line up for the anthem. Captains appear on commentary as guests through the day to recollect their favourite moments from India’s Test history. Down memory lane segments recorded with individual captains are played on the big screen at the ground in breaks Day 4 onwards.”

This means even Dhoni will be seen the first time after his days of absence from the cricket arena. According to the plan, captains will appear as guest commentators to share their favourite Indian Test cricket moments. So MS is set to make his debut and wear the hat of the commentator as well. It will undoubtedly be a treat for the fans who can never have enough of their Captain Cool.

And something more

At lunch on the third day, India’s greatest win at Eden Gardens will be celebrated. The match of 2001 saw Indian clinching a historic win against Australia and a new chapter began. “V.V.S. Laxman, Sourav Ganguly, Harbhajan Singh, Anil Kumble (?) and Rahul Dravid (?) re-live the Test match (2001). Segments aired on the big screen,” the plan reads. Kumble and Dravid are yet to confirm their availability for the match when the documentation was done on Saturday.
