MS Dhoni Successfully Undergoes Knee Surgery After IPL Triumph

Renowned cricketer and former captain of the Indian cricket team, Mahendra Singh Dhoni, has recently undergone knee surgery, just two days after leading the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) to their fifth Indian Premier League (IPL) title. The surgery was performed to address the persistent knee issue that had been bothering Dhoni throughout the tournament.

Dhoni undergoes successful surgery

Sources within the Chennai Super Kings and the hospital have confirmed that the operation was successful and Dhoni is in perfect health. He will remain in the hospital for a few more days before being discharged. CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan shared that he had spoken to Dhoni after the surgery on Thursday morning and stated, “I spoke to him after the operation. I cannot explain what the surgery is about but we have been told it is a key-hole surgery. He sounded fine in our conversation.”

The procedure was conducted by Dr. Dinshaw Pardiwala, a renowned sports medicine specialist who had previously operated on Rishabh Pant for a similar knee issue. The surgery took place at the Kokilaben Hospital in Mumbai, with Dhoni’s wife, Sakshi, by his side for support. The CSK skipper had been admitted to the hospital on Wednesday evening, seeking medical attention for his troublesome knee.

Dhoni will be back soon

CSK management has assigned their team doctor, Dr. Madhu Thottappil, to Mumbai to oversee Dhoni’s treatment and recovery. While the exact timeline for his full recovery remains uncertain, it is estimated that Dhoni will be back on his feet within approximately two months.

After guiding CSK to victory in the IPL final on Monday night, MS Dhoni expressed his commitment to return next year and play one final season for his devoted fans, who have unwaveringly supported him throughout the recently concluded IPL season. This surgery marks a necessary step towards Dhoni’s recovery, ensuring that he can regain optimal fitness and continue to contribute to the game he loves.
