“McCullum and Stokes are besotted with attack,” Boycott Criticizes McCullum and Stokes’ Aggressive Approach After Second Test Defeat

After a brief break, the Test cricket has returned to India. After the South Africa tour, India was scheduled to play a five-match Test series against England. The first two matches of the series are done already. The series is now standing on 1-1. Before commencing the Test series, a lot of buzzes created over the ‘Bazball Issue’. In the second Test, England faced a defeat of 106 runs. After that defeat, former English star Geoffery Boycott commented on this matter.

England’s Massive Defeat:

In a thrilling turnaround, India bounced back from an early setback, clinching victory in the second Test against England. Yashasvi Jaiswal stole the show with a magnificent double century, setting the tone for India’s dominance. Jasprit Bumrah‘s fiery bowling performance rattled the English lineup, claiming six crucial wickets.

Shubman Gill, overcoming a rough patch, staged a remarkable comeback in the second innings, smashing a brilliant century. With early wickets tumbling, Gill’s resilience shone through as he guided India to a commanding position. Ravichandran Ashwin and Jasprit Bumrah further bolstered India’s lead with their exceptional bowling, supported by Mukesh Kumar, Kuldeep Yadav, and Axar Patel.

Ashwin fell just shy of the significant milestone of claiming his 500th Test wicket by a single dismissal. Bumrah’s stellar performance culminated in a match-winning nine-wicket haul, securing victory for India and leveling the series at 1-1. His impressive figures of 9-91 mark a historic milestone, establishing him as one of India’s finest pacers against England on home turf.

Geoffery Boycott’s Comment:

Before starting the Test series, a lot of buzz was raised over England’s aggressive approach in Test cricket. The term ‘Bazball’ caught the attention. The English coach and captain talked about their approach earlier. In the second Test match, the English squad faced a defeat of 106 runs. With that India leveled up the series by 1-1. After that former English legend Geoffery Boycott talked about this matter.

Boycott said, “McCullum and Stokes are besotted with attack, attack, attack. It’s as if they say ‘If we can’t win, we will go down in glorious failure instead.’ But there is no glory in failure or defeat.”

Later he added, “Bazball is great entertainment when it comes off. But once you believe in an ideal over substance, then you have lost the plot. Today England gave the match away. Bazball was a failure.”
