Lucknow Super Giants rope in former South African fast bowler as their assistant coach

Lucknow Super Giants have made a significant addition to their coaching staff for the upcoming season of the IPL, roping in Lance Klusener as their assistant coach. Klusener, a former South African all-rounder, brings a wealth of coaching experience to the franchise, having previously been part of the coaching staff at Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals in the IPL.

Klusener is currently the head coach of Lucknow Super Giants‘ SA20 side, Durban Super Giants, who recently made it to the final of the SA20 tournament. His success with Durban Super Giants likely played a role in his appointment as assistant coach for the IPL team.

“I’m excited to join the coaching staff at Lucknow Super Giants and contribute to the team’s success in the upcoming IPL season. The franchise has shown a lot of faith in me, and I look forward to working alongside head coach Justin Langer and the rest of the coaching staff,” said Klusener.

Apart from his IPL experience, Klusener has also coached teams in other T20 leagues, including the Guyana Amazon Warriors in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL), where he guided them to their maiden title in 2023. He has also coached in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) with Rajshahi Kings and in the Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) with the Lyca Kovai Kings.

“I’m grateful for the opportunity to coach in the IPL again and to be part of a franchise like Lucknow Super Giants. The IPL is a challenging tournament, but I believe we have a talented squad capable of achieving success,” Klusener added.

On the international front, Klusener has served as the head coach of Afghanistan and has also had coaching stints with Zimbabwe and South Africa in various capacities. His experience and expertise make him a valuable addition to the Lucknow Super Giants’ coaching setup, and his presence is expected to have a positive impact on the team’s performance in the upcoming IPL season.
