Jemimah Rodrigues and Shikha Pandey Dropped from India’s ODI World Cup Squad

India women squads for the ODIs in New Zealand and the ODI World Cup have been announced. Jemimah Rodrigues and Shikha Pandey have been left out of the same while Ekta Bisht has been kept in the stand-by players.

India Women will be playing New Zealand in five ODIs from February 11, leading up to the ODI World Cup. India’s ODI World Cup campaign will begin with a clash against Pakistan on March 6. Ahead of the ODI series, India will also play against New Zealand in an one-off T20I match. Ekta Bisht who did not get a central contract last March is a part of the stand-by players list along with Sabbhineni Meghana and Simran Dil Bahadur.

Jemimah Rodrigues who is going through a rough patch since coming back from the pandemic-enforced break has been dropped from the side for these upcoming assignments. Shafali Verma meanwhile has made the opening spot her own with her shots and free-flow batting. Yastika Bhatia after impressing with her flexibility at the top, has been added to the squad. Shikha Pandey, on the other hand, has featured in three ODIs since a return in 2021 and taken two wickets. Instead of Pandey, the youngsters Meghana Singh and Renuka Singh have been given the preference.
