After the auction, Ashish Nehra talked about this matter:

Hardik Pandya’s trade to MI:

November 26 was an eventful day. That was the last day to submit the released and retained player’s list. The most shocking news came on that day. After being released from Mumbai Indians, Hardik Pandya was appointed Gujarat Titan’s captain. In 20222, the Gujarat Titans won their maiden IPL trophy under Hardik Pandya’s captaincy. In 2023, they reached the finals and ended up being the runners-up.

But Hardik Pandya went back to Mumbai Indians ahead of the IPL 2024. That was a shock to fans. Hardik was traded to Mumbai Indians with an all-cash deal. GT traded Pandya to MI and charged 15 crore rather than taking back a player. That was a strategic move by MI. After the trade, a lot of buzz was going on.

Ashish Nehra on This Matter:

After Hardik Pandya joined his previous franchise, the buzz was going over the trade. Hardik started his IPL career in 2015 for Mumbai Indians. He played for the franchise till 2021. After that, he joined the Gujarat Titans. After a long time, Gujarat Titans coach Ashish Nehra talked about this. He said, “It was not a big surprise he went to that team and he showed his desire to go back there. If a player wants to go there, he should be happy.”

Later he added, “Our management’s nature is such that, we think if a player wants to go there, right. He should be happy, and that’s why he has gone there again. Replacing someone like Hardik Pandya is difficult, but we tried our best. “
