Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Monday, Nicholas Pooran of Lucknow Super Giants smashed the fastest fifty of IPL 2023, leaving fans in awe of his performance. Pooran brought up his half-century off just 15 balls. The West Indian cricketer’s phenomenal display saw him surpass Ajinkya Rahane’s record of a 19-ball fifty against Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium. Pooran’s half-century was also the fastest fifty for Lucknow Super Giants in the tournament so far.

Saved the game

Additionally, it is worth mentioning that Pooran’s knock is not only the fastest fifty of IPL 2023 but also the third-fastest fifty in the history of the tournament. It is also noteworthy that Pooran came into bat when Lucknow Super Giants had lost two quick wickets in the form of Marcus Stoinis and KL Rahul, and the team needed 108 runs to win in just 53 balls. The left-handed batsman took the attack to the opposition and completely turned the game around in his team’s favor.

The fans at the stadium were left on the edge of their seats as they watched Pooran dominate the opposition bowlers. The West Indian’s blistering knock is sure to go down in IPL history as one of the most memorable performances in the tournament’s history.

The left-handed batsman’s incredible hitting saw him score 4 fours and 7 sixes, taking the game away from the opposition in no time. Pooran’s knock helped Lucknow Super Giants chase down a mammoth total of 213 when all hopes seemed lost.

Pooran’s efforts were rightly lauded by his teammates and fans alike, with many taking to social media to heap praise on the talented cricketer. With the IPL 2023 season still in its early stages, fans can expect more fireworks from Pooran and other top cricketers in the coming matches.
