IPL 2023: Harsha Bhogle picks his IPL XI

IPL 2023 came to a conclusion in a grand style. Chennai Super Kings won their fifth IPL title making them the most successful team in the IPL. The tournament was full of ebbs and flows and lived up to its expectation and hype.

Renowned Indian cricket commentator Harsha Bhogle recently revealed his ideal playing XI for the IPL 2023 during a conversation with Cricbuzz. However, his lineup raised some eyebrows as he left out notable names such as Faf Du Plessis, Virat Kohli, Devon Conway, and Ruturaj Gaikwad, who had performed well in the current season.

When it comes to openers, Bhogle opted for Shubman Gill from the Gujarat Titans and Yashasvi Jaiswal from the Rajasthan Royals. The Australian all-rounder Cameron Green claimed the number three spot in Bhogle’s lineup. Mumbai Indians’ middle-order batsman Suryakumar Yadav secured the number four position.

At number five, Bhogle selected South African batsman Heinrich Klaasen, who had been the standout performer for the Sunrisers Hyderabad, amassing over 500 runs in the tournament. Kolkata Knight Riders’ left-handed batter Rinku Singh was placed in the sixth position, while Ravindra Jadeja, the sole all-rounder in the lineup, occupied the number seven spot.

In the bowling attack, Bhogle’s prime spinner was Rashid Khan, supported by pace bowlers Mohammed Shami, Mohammed Siraj, and Matheesha Pathirana.

In addition to the playing XI, Bhogle also chose four impact substitutes, namely Shivam Dube, Yuzvendra Chahal, Axar Patel, and Mohit Sharma. These players could provide a valuable contribution to the team when needed.

While Bhogle’s selection may have omitted some established players, his lineup showcases a mix of young talents and experienced performers who have caught his attention during the IPL 2023 season.
