IPL 2019 KXIP vs DC: Twitter reacts as Sam Curran’s hat-trick dismantled DC

The PCA Stadium, Mohali witnessed another thrilling game of IPL 2019. The 13th match of the season between Kings XI Punjab and Delhi Capitals swung like a pendulum and ended in favor of the hosts.

It was Shreyas Iyer who won the toss and asked the opposition to bat first. KXIP went in without Chris Gayle who was out due to a lat injury. Sam Curran opened the innings with KL Rahul. In the first few balls, Rahul looked to be aggressive. But Chris Morris got him out for 15 in the 2nd over. Curran flashed his blade before getting out to Sandeep Lamichhane for 20. Read how Sam Curran’s hat-trick changed the game.

The Man of the Match of the last game, Mayank Agarwal failed this time and got run out for 7. The score read 58/3 in the 8th over. The hosts were in dire need of a partnership. David Miller and Sarfaraz Khan added 62 runs for the 4th wicket and brought the innings back on track.

But both got out before the death overs began. All of a sudden, KXIP lost a flurry of wickets. Mandeep Singh’s unbeaten 29 off 21 took them to a respectable total of 166/9 after 20 overs.

DC lost Prithvi Shaw off the first ball of the innings when Ravichandran Ashwin got him out caught behind for a duck. Shikhar Dhawan and Shreyas Iyer came together and built a solid stand. They didn’t allow the required run rate to mount and after 6 overs, the score reached 49/1.

But after they got their eye in, both fell within a few balls. While Hardus Viljoen accounted for Iyer’s wicket for 28, Ashwin sent Dhawan for 30. The hosts had a great chance of tightening things and making a comeback in the game.

But Rishabh Pant, alongside Colin Ingram, didn’t allow the opposition to dominate for a while. They kept the required rate in control and took the side close. When Mohammed Shami castled Pant for 39 off 26, the visitors needed 23 from 20 balls. It triggered a dramatic collapse.

Ashwin ran Morris out for a duck. Sam Curran bowled a terrific 18th over by bagging wickets of Ingram and Harshal Patel and conceded 4 runs. Shami removed Hanuma Vihari in the next over and went for just 4 runs. DC needed 15 runs from the last over. Curran dismantled Rabada‘s stumps off the first ball. Then, he did the same to Lamichhane and completed a hat-trick. KXIP got out of jail and won the match by 14 runs.
