Indian Cricket Captain Virat Kohli Showed Immense Faith on Vijay Shankar

Vijay Shankar even after two poor performances has got the most important man from the team on his side. The Indian cricket captain Virat Kohli showed immense faith in Shankar during the pre-match conference on Saturday. Indian will be facing England tomorrow at Edgbaston.

Vijay Shankar has the skipper on side

After Shankar failed to deliver with bat, everyone expected the team management to drop him for the important match against the host in World Cup 2019. But it looks like the skipper still wants to give Shankar a chance. He said that the young all-rounder is pretty close to a very good knock in this tournament. When asked about the current number four of the team, he said, “I think against Afghanistan on that pitch he looked really assured. Shot selection, again, we discussed with him for that game. Last game, again, he came out, he looked really good, and he got a beautiful ball from Kemar Roach.”

Kohli doesn’t want to pinpoint this based on a handful of games. According to him, Shankar looked good enough to him and they talked about his shot selection as well. Kohli believes that one needs some amount of luck as well to be successful in such a stage. He thinks that it is important to cross the midrange score of 30 to 60 and then Shankar will be in place. “He’s very close to that, and we’re very confident he’s going to end up playing that kind of knock for us,” said the world number one batsman.

Longing gets longer

Post the failure of Vijay Shankar, it was expected that the Indian team would go through a change at least. Rishabh Pant and Dinesh Karthik are waiting in the dressing room to get the pad on anytime with the former having a slightly better possibility. But now it seems that those two have to wait for some more matches to get the lifetime opportunity. On the other hand, if Vijay can play a big inning the time, he will be the certain number four for India.
