“I will give the World Cup my best shot.” de Kock Points World Cup Trophy Before Retirement

World Cup is ringing the door. The whole cricket fraternity is waiting to cheer for their team. After a long, India is hosting the World Cup. The last time India hosted the tournament they became the winner. This World Cup is going to be a little special for South Africa. Star South African wicket-keeper batter Quinton de Kock has announced retirement from ODI cricket. After the World Cup de Kock will not be seen playing a national jersey in the team. He is keen to win his last-ever World Cup.

Quinton de Kock’s comment:

De Kock has announced his ODI retirement after this World Cup. He is thinking of winning this edition of the World Cup for himself and for his country. Just before the World Cup, South Africa Won the series against Australia by a 3-2 margin.

Ahead of the World Cup, de Kock said, “ I have played a lot of cricket already. I will give the World Cup my best shot. I would like to tick off an ICC event. I don’t see myself being involved in the game in any way when I stop playing. I want a life after cricket.”

Over de Kock’s retirement, Bavuma commented:

South Africa captain Temba Bavuma will lead the team in the World Cup. On de Kock’s retirement, Bavuma said, “ I wasn’t in the loop, as per his thinking or decision. With Quinny, at times, you can expect anything. It doesn’t change how we see the guy. It’s always been a pleasure playing with Quinton from our Under-15 days at school. He is an incredible player, talented; too much talent.

He also added, “ he will be a big loss to South Africa, at least in the ODI stuff. He is one of the guys I lean on from a tactical point of view. Not having him within the space is going to be a bit of a challenge, but it’s something we will have to overcome.”

It will be an emotional World Cup season for the Proteas. Quinton de Kock will say a final goodbye to ODI cricket from the World Cup stage. They will play their first match on October 7, against  Sri Lanka in Delhi. They can also break their record of not reaching any World Cup finals before.
