“He has been unable to play fast bowling” Gavaskar Slams Glenn Maxwell’s Struggles Against Fast Bowling

The IPL is going on. Cricket enthusiasts are enjoying some thrilling encounters. But the concern is looming over Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s performances. Out of six matches, they faced defeat in five of them. Australian star all-rounder Glenn Maxwell’s performance is coming under the scanner. Former Indian skipper Sunil Gavaskar made a big comment on him.

Maxwell’s Struggle:

Maxwell, known for his destructive batting, has been a major disappointment for Royal Challengers Bangalore this season. With just 32 runs in 6 innings and 4 wickets with the ball, he has failed to contribute significantly. RCB’s heavy reliance on Virat Kohli highlights Maxwell’s underperformance, leaving their batting lineup struggling.

RCB’s dismal performance, with only one victory in six matches, sees them at the bottom of the table. Despite having international stars like Faf du Plessis and Glenn Maxwell, the team has failed to perform consistently. Maxwell’s recent poor form, including two ducks in the last three matches, adds to RCB’s woes. With Kohli and Dinesh Karthik being the only consistent performers, the team’s batting lineup lacks depth and reliability, hindering their chances of success in the ongoing tournament.

Gavaskar’s Remarks:

Former Indian cricketer Sunil Gavaskar openly criticized the all-rounder’s performance this season. Gavaskar expressed concern about the star cricketer’s ability to face fast bowling, particularly deliveries bouncing to his chest or shoulders.

Gavaskar said, “He has been unable to play fast bowling, period. Balls bouncing to his chest or shoulder height are troubling him. He can whack every ball below his waist height but not the ones above that.”

After that, he made a big remark on Maxwell. He said, “In India, the weather till April 20 favours fast bowling on Indian tracks. And when the pacers will reap success, Maxwell will surely find himself at the receiving end. It is just as we say in Hindi.”

Later on, he added, “And it’s not just Maxwell. Several big-ticket players are finding it difficult to read bowling. So when he gets out in the match, the balls that remain low, he will score against them.”
