After missing out on the IPL 2024 due to personal reasons, he is back in cricket. While playing county for Yorkshire, he scored an unbeaten century innings in 69 balls. That caught the attention.

Missing Out the IPL and back in County:

At the beginning of the IPL 2024, Harry Brook announced his unavailability in the tournament. He lost his grandmother before the IPL and decided to opt out of the tournament. It was a setback for the team. But the franchise announced Lizaad Williams’ name as his replacement.

But he is back in cricket after a break through the county cricket for Yorkshire. In a remarkable display of skill and resilience, England batter Harry Brook made a stunning comeback to competitive cricket with Yorkshire. Despite a hiatus since December, Brook’s return was nothing short of spectacular. Stepping onto the field on the final day of a rain-interrupted County Championship match against Leicestershire at Headingley, he wasted no time in making his mark.

Batting at No. 5, Brook unleashed a flurry of boundaries, treating the sparse crowd of fewer than 200 spectators to a thrilling spectacle. With an astonishing display of shotmaking, he smashed 14 fours and two sixes in just 69 balls, showcasing his dynamic prowess as one of the rising stars in English cricket. Remarkably, Brook notched up his 12th first-class century, powering Yorkshire to declare their first innings at 246-6 before rain intervened, forcing the match to end in a draw.

Coach’s Words:

After a long time, the batter is back in cricket. While talking about this, the Yorkshire coach said, “A lot of the communication was from him. We’ve put no pressure on him to play. He has been having lots of nets. At a time like this, he’s been wanting to be around people he’s comfortable with.”

Later he added, “One of the conversations that we’ve had is that he just wants to play cricket with his mates again. He’s got a lot of mates in the dressing room, they’ve played a lot of cricket together and grown up through the age groups.”

While talking about the next matches, he further added, “This is his comfort in a difficult time. We are the benefactors of that, and we are very grateful to have him. I think we’ll enjoy watching him bat for the next four games if he carries on batting the way he is.”
