Former Indian Opener Urges Rohit Sharma and Rahul Dravid to Give Rest to the Star All-Rounder for the Afghanistan Match

The World Cup is raising its temperature since it raised its curtain. The tournament is getting exciting day by day. India registered a thrilling six-wicket win against Australia on October 8. They beat the opponent with two magnificent knocks by Virat Kohli and KL Rahul. They just snatched the win from Australia by their brilliant partnership. With that win, India registered their first win of the tournament. The former Indian batter requested the skipper and coach to rest the star all-rounder of the team.

Sehwag’s request to the team management:

India is in great form in this tournament. Before entering into the tournament, India won the Asia Cup by 10 wickets. After that, they bagged the India vs. Australia ODI series by 2-1 margin. In that ODI series, team management announced two different squads for the three matches. In that series, Ravichandran Ashwin made a comeback in ODI format after years. After Axar Patel’s injury, Ashwin replaced him in the ODI series.

Virender Sehwag wants Ravichandran Ashwin to be on rest. He said, “ I think Ravichandran Ashwin will be rested. Mohammad Shami has been in wonderful form, and he even took a fifer against Australia. This is a different wicket, and the ground is also smaller. Also, there is the age factor with Ashwin. So, India will look to save him for the big matches.”

After that, he praised Rohit Sharma and Rahul Dravid for their decisions throughout the India vs. Australia match. He said,” We must praise Rahul Dravid and Rohit Sharma for convincing KL Rahul to keep wickets and bat in the middle-order. Had he opened the innings and gotten out early, we would have had to rely on guys like Hardik Pandya and Suryakumar Yadav.”

India’s brilliant performance:

India registered a thrilling win against Australia by six wickets. In that match, Australia won the match and opted to bat first. Mitchell Marsh got out on a golden duck. David Warner scored 41 in 52 balls. Steven Smith scored 46 in 71 balls. He smashed 5 boundaries. Labuschagne scored 27 in 41 balls. Mitchell Starc scored 28 runs.

Indian bowlers dominated them well. Ravindra Jadeja took 3 wickets in 28 runs. Kuldeep Yadav picked up 2 wickets in 42 runs. Bumrah took 2 wickets in 35 runs. Siraj, Hardik, and Ashwin picked one each. Australia got all out on 199 runs.

It was an easy target but India made it difficult in the first. The first three Indian batters were gone by a duck. After that, Virat and KL Rahul took India closer to winning. Kohli played an innings of 85 runs in 116 balls. After his out, KL Rahul secured India’s win. He played an unbeaten innings of 97 runs in 115 balls. He missed his century by his fate. They were the true heroes of the match.
