DC vs RCB Match 50: Mohammed Siraj engages in a verbal spat with Phil Salt

In a thrilling encounter between the Delhi Capitals and Royal Challengers Bangalore, at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi, a heated incident took place during the fifth over of Delhi’s innings. RCB had set a challenging target of 181 runs for Delhi to chase in their designated 20 overs. Delhi were off to a flying start, scoring 41 runs in just 4 overs. However, the fifth over proved to be a dramatic affair as Mohammed Siraj and Phil Salt got engaged in a verbal spat.

The 5th over incident

Mohammed Siraj brought the fifth over of the innings and Phil Salt, Delhi’s opener, took full advantage of it. Salt smashed Siraj for 16 runs in the first three balls, hitting the first two for sixes and the third for a four. Siraj was visibly angry after being hit for so many runs in such a short period.

Siraj tried to bounce back by bowling a short ball, which flew over Salt’s head and was signaled a wide by the umpire. Salt smiled at the sight and said something to Siraj, which further infuriated the RCB bowler.

Siraj lost his cool and lashed out at Salt, sending some hurtful words his way, and then putting a finger on his own lips, signaling Salt to shush. The situation quickly escalated as players from both sides rushed to the scene. The umpires and Faf du Plessis, RCB’s skipper, were quick to get into action and diffused the situation. As soon as the other players got involved, the situation immediately calmed down.

Fans called out Siraj

Siraj eventually bounced back in the over as he gave away just 2 runs in the remaining 3 balls of his over. As the heated incident between Siraj and Salt unfolded on the field, the audience was on their feet, with many expressing their shock and disappointment at the turn of events.

The incident was also widely discussed on social media, with many netizens calling out Siraj for his unnecessary aggression and inability to take a beating from a batter. While competition is an integral part of the game, it is essential for players to maintain their composure and conduct themselves with sportsmanship and respect towards their fellow players, as argued by the netizens.
