CSK vs MI Match 49: Dhoni’s masterclass leads to the wicket of Rohit Sharma

In what fans are now calling the ‘ElClasico’ of the Indian Premier League, MS Dhoni once again outsmarted Rohit Sharma to get the better of the MI skipper. Dhoni’ who is hailed as one of the greatest minds on the field read Rohit Sharma like a book to get his wicket. Earlier, Chennai Super Kings won the toss and decided to bowl first.

Rohit Sharma surprised everyone by sending Cameron Green to open the innings alongside Ishan Kishan. However, the gamble didn’t pay off as Green was dismissed in the second over by Tushar Deshpande and Rohit Sharma eventually came out to bat then. However, Rohit’s poor form continued as he was dismissed for a duck by Chennai Super Kings’ pacer Deepak Chahar.

Chennai Super Kings skipper MS Dhoni’s smart tactics once again outfoxed Rohit Sharma, who was hoping to break his poor run of form in the tournament. Before the ball was bowled, Dhoni came up to the stumps and put pressure on Rohit, who attempted to play a risky lap shot. However, Rohit’s poor timing and form meant he missed the ball, which clipped his thumb and lobbed up toward the gully region. Ravindra Jadeja took a simple catch to send Rohit back to the pavilion.

This was Deepak Chahar’s second wicket of the over as the right-arm pacer had also gotten rid of MI’s second opener Ishan Kishan earlier in the over. The two wickets put Chennai Super Kings in a commanding position as they looked to restrict Mumbai Indians to a low total. With Rohit’s dismissal, Mumbai Indians’ hopes of posting a big total on the board took a hit, and Chennai Super Kings’ bowlers seized the initiative.
