A number of agreements with club sponsors and changes to venue arrangements were required to meet the demand albeit.

After reaching an agreement, the CA confirmed on Friday about the reduction from 56 to 40 regular-season games in the BBLwill take effect this season. The playoffs will be altered like four teams will qualify for the playoffs from this season instead of five and a four-match finals format will be introduced. However, the finals structure are yet to be confirmed.

Schedule to be released soon

The tournament schedule is expected to be released in July, with matches beginning in December and the edition should be completed entirely during the Christmas school holidays. “A shortened BBL will allow us greater flexibility to ensure we can deliver the best possible fixture for clubs and fans while providing a platform that allows players to continue to produce the world-class levels of cricket we’ve seen over the duration of the tournament,” CA’s general manager of Big Bash Leagues, Alistair Dobson said.

He further confirmed, “Whilst no changes have been made to the WBBL schedule, it’s vital that we make sure the tournament continues to be at the forefront of T20 Leagues as the global women’s game continues to evolve at a rapid rate.”
