Blue Has Always Been Our Colour – Virat Kohli on Indian Jersey

The official orange outfit of the Indian team has been made public now. The men in blue will play England on May 30 wearing the jersey. While fans have different views on the same, the skipper Virat Kohli looks happy with the New Orange Jersey.

Why Orange?

Indian cricket team will be sporting orange-blue jersey at Edgbaston on Sunday. The intention is to distinguish the two teams as both have blue outfits primarily; England wears a lighter shade of blue. According to ICC’s rule, quite a few teams have to go for a different away jersey. Afghanistan opted for red in three of their matches although their main jersey is blue. Similarly, South Africa who usually wears green was seen in gold. Sri Lanka wore blue for yellow in two matches and Bangladesh chose red as their away jersey.

Some of the countries revealed their away kit much ago while Indian jersey has been just released before their match against England. All of the players posted photos on social media wearing the same. Although the tinge of orange domination has raised some political controversy the players look happy with their kits.

Virat Kohli, when asked to rate the jersey, gave thumbs- up and rated it 8 out of 10. He said that he loved the contrasting colours and fit of the wear. “Honestly, I’m not saying it for the sake of it. I really like it. The contrast is very nice. The fit is great, it’s a nice change,” the skipper gave a nod.

But he agreed that the colour blue is much relatable to Indian cricket. Hence this away kit is good for one or two games only. The man surely likes to be in blue while representing India. “I don’t think permanently we’d be heading in that direction because blue has always been our colour, very proud to wear that. For a change and looking at the occasion, it’s a very smart kit.”
