“Because that tells me” Brett Lee Applauds Rohit Sharma’s Team Spirit Over Personal Glory After Century

On April 14, cricket enthusiasts experienced the el-classico of IPL. On the 29th match, Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium. The match was a perfect thriller. But Rohit Sharma’s century added an extra layer to the game. But after hitting the century, he didn’t celebrate. Australian legend Bret Lee opened up about that.

Rohit’s Classic Innings:

Rohit Sharma is a classic batter there is no doubt. But before IPL 2024, he was replaced by Hardik Pandya as the Mumbai Indians captain. A lot of criticism was going over his form. But he has shut out all the critics. After playing some brave knocks in previous matches, he hits a century against Chennai Super Kings.

While batting first, Chennai put on a total of 206 runs. Chasing the target was not easy. But Rohit Sharma nailed the show. After losing Ishan Kishan’s wicket, he stood tall. When the team needed an impactful knock, he scored a century after a twelve-year gap. He played an unbeaten knock of 105 runs in 63 balls with 11 boundaries and 5 over-boundaries. When the team was struggling, he pushed the team’s innings.

Bret Lee’s View:

Rohit Sharma scored his second IPL century but interestingly, he didn’t celebrate. That move by the great batter stole the limelight. Former Australian pacer Brett Lee praised Rohit Sharma for his unselfish attitude. After the match, Lee commended Rohit’s innings and noted that his lack of celebration after reaching a century demonstrated his dedication to the team’s success and his focus on winning over personal milestones.

Lee said, “It was a brilliant hundred. The fact that he went out there and got them at a pretty good clip too. But I liked when he scored his hundred and didn’t even raise his bat. Because that tells me the win means more than his personal milestone. He played with real intent right from ball one.”

Later he added, “He played his shots all around the ground. And then the power, the finesse came into play. 105 not out 63 balls, 11 fours, 5 sixes. Some of those sixes could have gone out of the ground in other stadiums. It was beautiful batting, but unfortunately, sometimes you can’t do things on your own.”

Despite the fighting knocks, Mumbai Indians faced a defeat of 20 runs. With that defeat, they registered another defeat in this tournament. In the next match, they will face Punjab Kings on April 18. Fans are anticipating a thrilling match.
