Babar Azam to Surpass Virat Kohli Soon

Babar Azam and Virat Kohli are two best in the business at the moment. Both are often compared, thanks to their consistency and brilliance. In the latest ICC ODI rankings, Babar Azam is standing just behind Virat Kohli and they two have just five points of difference.

In the latest ICC ODI Rankings, Virat Kohli is No 1 with 857 Points and Babar Azam of Pakistan is in the second place with 852 points. However, after Wednesday’s 94-run knock it should not take much time for the Pakistan captain to beat Kohli. Rohit Sharma is at third place with 825 points followed by Ross Taylor with 801 points and Aaron Finch with 791 points at No 4 and 5 respectively. As Pakistan won the series decider, Babar Azam will overtake the Indian captain when the rankings get released next.

No ODI for Kohli ahead

For Kohli, it will not be anytime soon to surpass Babar as India will not playing any ODI match any time soon. So, he will not have the chance to overtake the No 1 spot in ICC ODI Rankings soon but Babar Azam will momentarily become World No 1 batsman in the ODIs.

Babar Azam surpassed Kohli, Quinton de Kock and Hashim Amla to become the fastest batsman to score 13 ODI centuries. He took only 76 innings to get there while Amla managed it in 83 innings, Kohli and de Kock in 86. With a century in first ODI followed by a knock of 31 in the second one Azam is just five points away from Kohli. Kohli after scoring two half-centuries in the India-England series, is now at No. 1 place in the ODIs with 857 points is the No 1 batsman in the ODIs. Babar Azam, on the other hand, has been in tremendous form in the 50-over format which has helped this achieve the feat.
