“Amazing feeling.”Rishabh Pant Overjoyed as BCCI Confirms Readiness for IPL 2024 Return

The IPL 2024 is set to commence soon. All the teams are gearing up well ahead of the season. Before starting the season, Delhi Capitals received good news. NCA declared Rishabh Pant fit and will be seen in action in IPL 2024. Pant opened up about his feelings about coming back to cricket.

Pant’s Recovery and Aim to Comeback:

Rishabh Pant expressed his determination to regain fitness ahead of the Test series against England and acknowledged the significant role played by the BCCI and National Cricket Academy (NCA) in his recovery. Having been sidelined since a car accident in December 2022, Pant extended gratitude for the support that contributed to his successful comeback. Declared fit for IPL 2024, the talented cricketer is eager to make his mark on the field after a period of rehabilitation.

The wicketkeeper-batsman disclosed that the initial intention was to regain fitness before the commencement of the five-match series against Ben Stokes and his team. Pant said, “I was anxious waiting to be declared fit. I was trying to get fit before the Test series against England. BCCI and NCA were very helpful. BCCI secretary Jay Shah took personal interest. They didn’t want to rush me to the longest format. They slowly built up the workload. That was the best part of the recovery. You have to appreciate if someone takes care of you like that. They suggested that I start with T20s and then increase the workload.”

On BCCI’s Announcement:

Pant expressed sheer joy following the BCCI’s announcement of his readiness for IPL 2024, emphasizing that it was a collective effort. The wicketkeeper conveyed his eagerness to return to the field after a prolonged absence. He highlighted the collaborative work put in by everyone involved, indicating the shared commitment to his recovery. Pant’s enthusiasm reflects the anticipation of making a strong comeback in the upcoming IPL season after the extended period away from competitive cricket.

He said, “Amazing feeling. This was the thing we were waiting for. It’s been so long. I think you can still cope with a layoff of three to six months. But when it goes beyond that, it starts taking a toll. I just want to go out there and play and have fun. Not thinking about the future too much, because (then) you put too much pressure on yourself. Looking forward to each day as it comes.”
