AB de Villiers Pours in Appreciation for Siraj Ahead of the World Cup

Team India secured a reverberant win in the just-concluded Asia Cup season in 2023. It was rather an exceptional achievement for India, with them winning the title for the eighth time. All hail to Mohammed Siraj, who did the needful and paved the way for the team to be regarded as champions.

Putting on a convincing 10-wicket victory over Sri Lanka, Mohammed Siraj single-handedly led India to victory by registering a six-wicket haul and bowling out Sri Lanka for a paltry score of 50 runs. Not just this, his five-wicket haul of just 2.4 overs entered the record books as it equaled Sri Lankan legend Chaminda Vaas’s record for the fastest five-wicket haul.

Ever since his breathtaking performance, Siraj has been receiving accolades from everyone, from fans to former cricketers to famous personalities. One such personality is legendary cricketer and South Africa’s former captain, AB de Villiers.

“It’s his attitude,” says ABD

While receiving heartfelt appreciation from his former RCB teammate, AB de Villiers stated, “Siraj always keeps coming back; he’s always in your face. The bowlers who are respected most are those who never give up. They are always in your face; that’s what Siraj does. He’s not afraid of trying the short ball; he’s there in the batter’s face; he’s always trying to get you out. “And Sri Lanka certainly felt that in the final.”

The legendary retired cricketer also insisted that what makes Siraj different from others is his attitude towards the game. He took to his official YouTube channel and spoke at length about how when one never gives up and makes their attitude catch up with their teammates, the fans want them as well, and certainly that’s where they start doing special things on the park.

A bright future awaits Siraj

The 29-year-old has already claimed the top rank in the ICC’s ODI bowling rankings. This achievement came to him after his six-wicket haul in the Asia Cup finals against Sri Lanka. Further, Siraj’s inclusion in the team squad for the upcoming World Cup was quite obvious given his match-winning performance last Sunday in the finals.
