A poster wishing Kane Williamson’s recovery seen during the match between CSK and SRH

Kane Williamson has been loved by everyone in the world. The smiling Kiwi assassin hardly has any haters. The Kiwi skipper maintains his composure while being cordial to both teammates and opponents. He does not act overly aggressively on the pitch, slams the opposition, or complain when his side loses. Kane Williamson is the quintessential example of the “nice guy” in contemporary cricket.

The Poster

In today’s match between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Chennai Super Kings, a fan was seen with a poster saying “Get Well Soon, Kane”.

Kane Williamson, the captain of the New Zealand ODI team, injured his anterior cruciate ligament while fielding in an IPL 2023 game, according to scans, and he is now all but out of the World Cup, which will be held in India in October-November. Williamson will require a lengthy recovery period after his upcoming operation, which basically disqualifies him from major competition.

At the opening match of the IPL 2023 at Ahmedabad, Williamson was hurt while attempting to catch Ruturaj Gaikwad in the 13th over of the Chennai Super Kings’ innings. He was spotted writhing in discomfort on the boundary line despite saving two runs for his team, the Gujarat Titans. He was carried off the pitch after receiving immediate care on the sidelines. The veteran right-hander was replaced by Impact Player Sai Sudharsan and did not continue to play in the game.

Williamson was a key player for the former champions joining SunRisers Hyderabad in 2015. The captain of New Zealand participated in 76 games and amassed 2101 runs at an average of 36. After Warner handed over the reins to Williamson, SRH advanced to the IPL 2018 final.

Shikhar Dhawan, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Kumar Sangakkara, Cameron White, Darren Sammy, and Manish Pandey, who rather had extremely brief terms as the franchise’s captain, are the next most successful captains of the team after Williamson.
