Zimbabwe Women Shine in Qualifiers: Modester Mupachikwa Tops Batting, Precious Marange Dominates Bowling

ICC Women’s T20 tournament is around the corner. The third play-off and the final of the Africa qualifier for the tournament has been wrapped up. On December 17, the Zimbabwe Women’s team locked horns with the Uganda Women’s team at the Entebbe Cricket Oval. In that match, Zimbabwe player Precious Marange played an exceptional spell. The Zimbabwe Women’s team dominates the chart of most runs and most wickets.

Match Tour:

That was the final qualifier match of the Africa region of the Women’s T20 World Cup. In that match, Zimbabwe won the toss and opted to bowl first. Uganda Women struggled since the start. Opener Kevin Awino scored 5 runs in 29 balls. Stephani Nampiina played a knock of 26 runs in 26 balls. That was the highest score of the team. Rita Musamali remained not out in 25 runs in 31 balls. The Uganda Women’s team got all out in 79 runs.  

Zimbabwe bowlers were excellent especially, Precious Marange. This bowler picked up 5 wickets just in 7 runs. That was a sensational performance. He picked up Kevin Awino, Malisa Ariokot, Concy Aweko, Irene Alumo, and Evelyn Anyipo. Loreen Tshuma picked up 1 wicket in 13 runs. Nyasha Gwanzura picked up 1 wicket in 3 runs. 

While chasing the target, the Zimbabwe Women’s team played well. Skipper Mary-Anne Musonda played a knock of 21 runs in 17 balls. Modester Mupachikwa scored 22 runs. Kelis Ndhlovu remained unbeaten on 15 runs. They won the match by 6 wickets. 

Most Runs:

The Zimbabwe Women’s team performed exceptionally well in the qualifier stage. Modester Mupachikwa ended up as the highest run-scorer. In 5 matches, she scored 131 runs. Her highest score is 47*. His batting average is 43.66. Another Zimbabwe player, Mary-Anne Musonda is there at no.2. She scored 108 runs in 5 matches. 

The third position is taken by a Uganda women’s player. In 5 matches, she scored 107 runs with an average of 53.5. His highest score is 35*. Chipo Mugeri-Tiripano is there in the fourth standard. In 5 matches, he scored 101 runs with an average of 25.25.

Most Wickets:

The Zimbabwe Women’s team was exceptional in the tournament. They are on the top of the highest wicket-taker’s list. Precious Marange is on the top of the chart. Against Uganda, she registered a five-wicket haul. In this tournament, she is the only player to register a five-wicket haul. She took 13 wickets in 5 matches. Her best bowling spell is 5/7.

Janet Mbabazi is in the second position with 9 wickets in 5 matches. Concy Aweko is there in the third position with 9 wickets in 5 matches. Tshuma is standing at number four with 7 wickets in 5 matches.
