Yuvraj Singh Suggests A Good Psychologist For Indian National Cricket Team

Former Indian player Yuvraj Singh thinks that the Indian national cricket team needs a psychologist to take care of the mental health of the cricketers. He said that talents like Prithvi Shaw, Rishabh Pant need an expert to deal with scrutiny and media buzz around them 24/7.

Indian national cricket team needs psychologist

On Tuesday Yuvraj Singh said that Indian team lacks a professional who can work for the cricketers’ mental health. As every individual is different from the other the team requires a good psychologist. He gave an example of young cricketers like Shaw and Pant and said, “In this team, there is no one to talk to about the mental front of players. Guys like Prithvi Shaw, Rishabh Pant are so talented. But now with so much scrutiny and media around, you need somebody to talk to.”

During an interaction on Sportscreen’s YouTube page, Yuvi further added, “The team needs a good psychologist. But he has to be respected.”

Yuvraj’s high hopes on Pandya

Yuvraj Singh also spoke about Hardik Pandya who has been out of cricket for quite a long followed by surgery. Yuvraj believes that Pandya can be an asset for the Indian national cricket team in their next World Cup if his mental side is given special care. “Hardik Pandya has immense potential. He has got amazing talent. Someone needs to work with his head so that he can perform in crunch situations. If somebody can work on his mind, he can be a serious asset as we go to the next World Cup.”

Yuvraj holds that record of fastest T20I fifty what he scored in just 12 balls during the 2007 T20 World Cup against England. Yuvraj thinks that amongst Indians, KL Rahul and Pandya have the ability to break the record. “Two guys I thought could break the record are Chris Gayle and AB de Villiers. KL can do it he has 50 off 14 balls in the IPL but scoring a 50 in international cricket where all are quality bowlers and in IPL where you get two quality bowlers is not the same. But KL and Hardik have the potential.”
