“Ye kabhi T20 ya one-day nahi khel paaega.” KL Rahul Opened Up About His Hard Work on His Early Cricketing Days

KL Rahul is one of the responsible players of Indian cricket. Over the years, the talented wicketkeeper batter of India has gone through so many changes and established himself as a pillar of team India’s strength. In a recent interaction, KL Rahul opened up about those hard work and commitments.

Rahul’s Hard Works:

KL Rahul is a familiar face in Indian cricket and is known for his batting resilience and calm cricket brain. Over the years, he has been serving the nation and showcasing his excellence. But the way to reach this position was not an easy way. In the initial days, KL Rahul struggled to be in better shape. KL Rahul shared that in his early cricketing days, he was labeled as solely proficient in red-ball cricket. He confessed to surprising himself by hitting a six, considering he didn’t perceive himself as having a strong power game initially.

While talking about the struggle days, he said, “Initially, I was surprised I hit a six because I wasn’t a strong T20 or ODI player back then. Ek tag bhi lag gaya tha ki ye Test match player hai, ye kabhi T20 ya one-day nahi khel paaega.”

Focusing on 2016 IPL:

KL Rahul’s journey was no walk in the park; it required immense dedication and stepping out of his comfort zone. Despite the challenges, his perseverance paid off. The turning point came in the 2016 IPL season where, representing Royal Challengers Bangalore, Rahul amassed 397 runs at an impressive strike rate of 146.49. This milestone marked a significant breakthrough in his career, solidifying his position as a formidable force in the cricketing arena.

He said, “In 2016 when I played the IPL, I had a very good year with RCB and after that I think people started seeing KL Rahul as a one-day and T20 player as well. So after quietly working hard for many years behind the scenes, I got my spotlight.”

Currently, KL Rahul is leading the Lucknow Super Guants. In the last few matches, they have faced hard luck. On May 8, they are facing Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium. The match is crucial for them to qualify for the play-off stage.
