The fans enjoyed another thrilling encounter with WPL 2024. On February 27, Royal Challengers met Gujarat Giants in the fifth match of the tournament at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore. RCB registered another thrilling win in the tournament. With that win, they went one step forward.
After winning the toss, Royal Challengers Bangalore won the toss and opted to bowl first. Smriti Mandhana and Co was charged up since the beginning. The RCB bowlers dominated the opponent from the beginning. Scoring runs in front of the RCB bowlers was difficult for the Gujarat batters. Harleen Deol scored 22 runs in 31 balls. That was the highest score for the team.
Renuka Singh got the first success for RCB. He picked up Gujarat Giants skipper Beth Mooney in 8 runs. Sophie Molineux ended up taking three wickets in 25 runs. Renuka Singh took 2 wickets in 14 runs. Georgia Wareham took 1 wicket in 20 runs. In 20 overs, Gujarat Giants scored 107/7.
While chasing the target, RCB lost Sophie Devine’s wicket early. But Smriti Mandhana and S. Meghana carried the team. Skipper Smriti Mandhana got out on 43 runs in 27 runs. She smashed 8 boundaries and 1 over-boundary. Meghana remained not out on 36 runs in 28 balls. Ellyse Perry remained unbeaten on 23 runs in 14 balls. From Gujarat’s side, Ashleigh Gardner and Tanuja Kanwar took 1 wicket each. They won the match by 8 wickets.
