Shami had an excellent World Cup season. Even after not playing all the matches for India, he ended up being the highest wicket-taker of the tournament. Against New Zealand, he performed exceptionally well. He took 7 wickets in the match. He played the entire World Cup with the injury. Shami has been absent from all cricket matches since India’s World Cup 2023 final at the Narendra Modi Stadium on November 19. He was not part of the T20I series against Australia at home and also missed the tour of South Africa.

In an update shared on his social media account on Monday, he posted pictures, keeping everyone informed about his injury progress and the surgery.

On his social media handle, he posted a few pictures and wrote, “Just had a successful heel operation on my Achilles tendon! Recovery is going to take some time, but looking forward to getting back on my feet.”

Narendra Modi’s Wish:

After Shami shared the news on social media, Prime Minister Narendra Modi wished him. On his social media handle, he wrote, “Wishing you a speedy recovery and good health, @Mdshami11! I’m confident you’ll overcome this injury with the courage that is so integral to you.”

Mohammed Shami will be sitting out of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, marking a departure from his impactful performances for the Gujarat Titans in the previous editions of the T20 extravaganza. Fans will miss his dynamic presence on the field, as his absence deals a blow to both the team and spectators eagerly awaiting his stellar displays.
