Sourav Ganguly will take charge as the new BCCI president on October 23 unopposed. He was unanimously chosen to be the head of the board at least for the next ten-month. The Indian cricket board that currently does not have any proper administration will come to a proper system after quite a long time. Ganguly is expected to bring steadiness to the entire situation as he did as captain back in 2000 just after the match-fixing saga. On the other hand, memes like Ganguly being taking a call on the head coach, Ravi Shastri is doing the rounds.
The love-hate relationship between Ganguly and Shastri is well known. Since the beginning of Ganguly’s career, this has been a hot topic for media. Even recently in 2016, both had a war of words after Cricket Advisory Committee appointed Anil Kumble as the head coach and Ganguly was a part of the committee. During Ravi Shastri’s interview for the role of Kumble’s successor, Ganguly refused to take the interview as Shastri was attending it through a video call from Bangkok. Later Shastri took a dig at Ganguly for the same.

Undoubtedly all are waiting how the equation would turn out now as both are holding two important roles in Indian cricket. Ganguly already informed that he would discuss with the selectors about Mahendra Singh Dhoni on October 24. Then he was asked about Shastri. The 47-year-old was asked whether he had a talk to Shastri after his appointment as the president. Ganguly laughed into burst and was quick to respond, “Why, what has Ravi Shastri done now?”
